About UDAY Sanstha

UDAY Sanstha was founded in 2006 in the Varanasi district by Smt. Tanuja Mishra and her colleagues. From 2006 to 2025, UDAY Sanstha has worked in both urban and rural areas of Varanasi, empowering over 3,000 women through education on their constitutional and women's rights. This has motivated more than 200 women to become self-reliant, improving their own living standards and those of their families through self-employment.

Additionally, more than 1,500 children from underprivileged communities have received primary education through our Pathshala initiative, helping connect them to the mainstream education system. These children have also been educated about cleanliness and health. More than 200 elderly individuals have received health services through various health camps, along with increased awareness of social security.

Through over 150 health camps, we have treated more than 500 people with cataracts and dental issues and educated over 5,000 individuals about health services, motivating them to lead healthier lives.

In 2025, Smt. Tanuja Mishra decided to pass on the management and leadership of the organisation to a new generation. Under the leadership of Maitri and Gaurav Kumar Rai, the organisation is moving forward with renewed energy to fulfil its objectives of societal improvement.

Our mission is to support and empower disadvantaged communities by providing education, healthcare, government scheme linkages, and employment opportunities. We invite everyone to join us in building a better society where everyone has equal opportunities, access to education and healthcare, employment, and a clean environment.

Together, we will create a society free of discrimination based on caste, religion, or gender—where everyone enjoys equal rights and the opportunity to realise their dreams.

Vision, Mission & Approach

Our Vision

To build a prosperous and equitable society where every individual has equal opportunities and can develop their life with self-reliance.

Our Mission

Promoting positive and sustainable change within society, providing access and creating awareness regarding human rights and constitutional rights, women's welfare, child rights protection, and environmental protection, with the help of the government and community, by using data and technology.

Our Approach

We use 5 pillars as part of our approach to solving the massive problem of policy implementation: Grassroots Level Interventions, Ecosystem Building, Leveraging Technology, Building Self-Reliance, and Policy Advocacy & Research.

Our 5-Pillar Approach

We use the following 5 pillars as part of our approach to solving the massive problem of policy implementation.

01

Grassroots Level Interventions

To empower disadvantaged communities, grassroots intervention is a very important tool. We do awareness programs, community meetings, stakeholders' meetings, support in preparation of documents and filling out application forms, and organising various campaigns. These activities are done by our community mobilizer team who are always connected to the community.

02

Ecosystem Building

Creating an ecosystem for better collaboration amongst the chief stakeholders viz. Government, Civil Society, NGOs, PRI members, Communities, and Media in one place in a transparent manner. Currently, the lack of collaboration, information sharing, cross-learning, and coordination between these stakeholders is a large barrier to empower disadvantaged communities.

03

Leveraging Technology

Use of Technology to enhance process efficiency and information dissemination. We use technology like MIS (for data analytics), Web Applications (to keep a record of the details and status of each beneficiary), Mobile Applications (to facilitate individuals about various programs) and Digital literacy programs (to raise awareness about digital frauds).

04

Building Self-Reliance

We develop Community Stars within the underprivileged communities we work with, to ensure that the awareness of their Human and Constitutional Rights, various government programs and policies and how they can be accessed, is shared, owned, and driven by the communities. This helps nudge the community towards self-reliance and, over time, reduces their dependence on the support of external interventions like ours.

05

Policy Advocacy & Research

To ensure accountability of the state government to its intended beneficiaries and provide best practices and suggestions for successful implementation with potential applications across the nation.
